Yaba Building Collapse: Two Bodies Recovered, Death toll is now Five

Rescue officers have recovered 2 more bodies in the rubbles of the 3-storey building that was under construction, which collapsed on Saturday, 12th-Feburaury 2022, in Yaba area of Lagos state.

The 2 dead bodies are suspected to be workers and labourers who were on wages, working at the construction site when the building collapsed, this is now bringing the known and reported casualty figure to five, (adding the 3 bodies which were found on Saturday night)

 

 

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, Zonal Coordinator Southwest, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development, saying that one of the two bodies was that of a student on industiral training.

Farinloye said that one of the survivors, a teenager, escaped by sheer luck after he complained of hunger, adding that the building collapsed a few minutes after the teenager left to buy food.

 

 

 

The NEMA Zonal Coordinator confirmed that residents of the area mobilized resources to rescue the only survivor from the rubble. 

 

 

 

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Public Relations Officer, Okunbor Nosa, added that the five dead workers were all male,
