Watch as Burkina Faso Scored the First Goal of AFCON 2021 Against Cameroun (Video)

The very first goal scored in the 2021 AFCON tournament which ticked off in Cameroun today, 9th January 2022, came from the Équipe nationale de football du Burkina Faso, (The male footbal team of Burkina Faso).

The goal came at the 23rd minute of the game in the first half when Burkina Faso midfielder, Gustavo Sangare found the back of the net after several chances were created by the visiting team but wasn’t converted to goal.

 
 
 

However, their early lead was cut short when the captain of the host team’s Vincent Aboubakar converted 2 penalties to goals at the 39th minute, and also at the stoppage time of the first half.

The match which ended Cameroun 2 – 1 Burkina faso, would’ve ended 3-1 if the Abubakar had found the back of the net at the second half of the game.   

 
 
 
 
The 29-year-old, who netted the winner in the 2017 Cup of Nations final against Egypt, saw his team to glory as they counted their first 3 points, while preparing to play Ethiopia on Thursday, 13th January, 2022.
