Village head, Eight others dies in Fresh Bandits Attacks in a Zamfara Village

The menace of bandits and the carnage they wreck in Nigeria especially in the Northern part of the nation is something has been ignored by the authorities for years. Despite several calls to the president to declare bandits as terrorists, they have all been ignored as these maniacs still go on an killing spree in many northern villages.

 
 

Barely a week after reports that bandits now collect VAT from villagers and victims, and installing a new village head, cleric and Imams, there are now confirmed new reports of bandits attack in a Zamfara State village called Tungar Ruwa in Anka Local Government Area. 

 
 

These bandits with guns and machetes invaded Tungar Ruwa at around midnight on Wednesday, according to reports, Anas Mustapha who spoke to Premium Times disclosed that the bandits invaded the village on motorbikes and started shooting into the air as they rode towards the village head’s residence.

 
 
 

They then took him out and slaughtered him in the presence of some of his people that were also rounded-up by the bandits. In his words’

 

“Eight other people were confirmed dead when the bandits left after the attack. But our understanding is that they (bandits) came for the village head. You know when they feel a particular leader in a community is giving them troubles, they do kill him instantly,”

 
 
 

He said the bandits also stole foodstuff and domestic animals in the village but did not kidnap anyone. Spokesperson of the police in the state, Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the attack to Premium Times but he did not give details.
