A Mobil fuel station, located at the Unzik Juction, (Temp Site) in Awka Anambra was today razed to the ground when fire caught the establishment between 1-2 pm on Thursday.

The fire started when a tanker laden with liquid substances suspected to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exploded while discharging its content at fuel Station along the Awka – Onitsha Expressway.

The fire was contained to the establishment, by the men of the Anambra State Fire Service but not before the raging inferno with thick dark cloud had consumed a car parked by the side of the fuel station, two motorcycles and an overhead water tank.

The administrative building of the establishment was not left out, as of the generators used in place of business. Other petty business that operated within blast range were affected but no life was lost.

Sources who spoke to LatestNGnews.com revealed that the fire could’ve been started due to high intensity of the sun when the petrol tanker was discharging its contents.
