11 people were burnt to death beyond recognition in a fresh accident which happened at Agulu lake on the 26th of December 2021, according to an official report released by the FRSC command.
Out of the 11 people confirmed dead by incineration, 2 of them has been identified as students of Federal Polytechnic Oko, one of them being Miss Mmafor Chinyere Lotachukwu of the Business Adminstration and Management Department and her roommate/best friend.
Their deaths were confirmed via social media posts and tributes that was posted to them by their course mates and loge mates, which reads;
“It is with our deepest sorrow to announce the death of our colleague, friend and sister (Mmafor Chinyere Lotachukwu) who died on Monday being 26th December, 2021 in a ghastly motor accident.
“Condolences to the griefs and her family as a whole. May god give enough strength to the bereave family to bear the irreparable loss. May her soul and the souls of those who departed from this world rest in perfect peace, amen. Business administration and management department will surely miss you.
One Nwokoye Chiamaka Precious, who is believed to be a course mate, lodge mate or friend to the deceased, wrote:
“With Tears In Our Eyes We Say May Ur Gentle Souls Rest In Peace Amen. RIP #Pretty_Sure RIP #Course_Mate RIP #Her_Best_Rommie Rest In Peace Bby Girl. Arili. We Sat Together In Most Of Our Exams Nd Quiz Why Now Why Bby Girl. We Love You.Nd We Will Miss You Pls Wake Up”
Official reports by FRSC’s Sector Public Education Officer, Margret Onabe, reads that the accident happened due to wrong overtaking and overspeeding on the sloppy bridge,
but an Eyewitness who spoke to ABS news revealed that the accident was due to a Mack Tipper that tried to avoid potholes but lost control. This is the second accident that has happened along Agulu lake this December 2021.
