A mas suspected to be a transformer cable thief has been electrocuted to death while trying to vandalize transformer cables in a village in Okija, Anambra state. The incident happened on Saturday/Sunday as was shared by an fb user, Oguchi Hope Uche, on Sunday evening, July 3, 2022.

Oguchi Hope explained that the thief who was unlucky, got electrocuted while trying to vandalise Umuezerimpi 500KVA Distribution Substation,(electric transformer) property of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC).
Mr. Emeka Ezeh, who is the EEDC head of Corporate Communications, confirming the incident, revealed that the yet to identified young man wasn’t acting alone. Ezeh noted that the colleagues of the suspect ran away when they saw that their member had been electrocuted.
While stressing how the young man cut his own life short, Ezeh also sort the assistance of the villagers in reporting that capturing the rest of the cable vandals. He said;

“Just imagine how this young man has cut his life short over nothing. It is hoped that this will serve as a deterrent to others engaging in this dastardly act,”
“Let’s all join hands and ensure these very few people in our society that are bent on making life miserable for all of us are stopped.”
Mr. Emeka Ezeh concluded by stating that the tools used by the electrocuted transformer cable thief and his fleeing colleagues were also recovered and his corpse deposited at the Okija General Hospital Mortuary.
