The Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Sunday, 23 January 2022, square off with Eagles of Carthage, Tunisia, at Stade Roumde Adjia, as the ongoing AFCON2021 tournament progresses to the next stage which is the round of 16.

Super Eagles finished first in group D with 9 points, while The Carthage Eagles finished 3rd on Group E with 3 points, after losing 1-0 to Gambia on Thursday night, but this was good enough for Tunisia to scramble into the knockout round as best losers.
Both Eagles met at the bronze medal match at AFCON 2019 in Egypt with Nigeria getting the better of Tunisia 1-0 thanks to Odion Ighalo’s goal.

Gambia wrote its name in history books as they advanced to the knockout stage in its first ever AFCON appearance with the win over Tunisia.
Defending Champions, Algeria, however, crashed out of the tournament following a 3-1 loss to Ivory Coast, the defending champions failing to scale through the group stage.
The Desert Foxes also became the 12th AFCON champions to crash out in the first round when defending the trophy.
