There were rumors in past couple of weeks that giant social media network, Facebook will be rebranding their name, but there were no absolute proof to back up that rumour other than the fact that they were avoiding some legal issues. But as of 28th October 2021, it has been confirmed through the horse’s mouth that the rumors are true, but the said motives aren’t.

 

He gave a hint as to how his journey with Facebook started with just typing ordinary texts on the internet, but got improved to audio, pictures and video. Mark also made it known that he hope’s people around the world come to know the Meta brand and the future we stand for, hence, “Metaverse”

 
 

Facebook’s rebranding its name to Meta follows as the social media giant continues to work towards building its futuristic “Metaverse”, a virtual-reality space in which users interact with a computer-generated environment and other users. (More like a Universe that exists in the computer world).

In his statement, Zuckerberg added: “When I started Facebook, we mostly typed text on websites. When we got phones with cameras, the internet became more visual and mobile.

 
 
 

“As connections got faster, the video became a richer way to share experiences. We’ve gone from desktop to web to mobile; from text to photos to video. But this isn’t the end of the line.

“The next platform will be even more immersive — he continued, it’ll an embodied internet where you’re in the experience, not just looking at it. We call this the metaverse, and it will touch every product we build.”

 

On the defining features of the virtual reality space, Zuckerberg also said users will be able to connect with friends and family, work, learn, play, shop, and create in a manner distinct from how people think about computers presently.

 
 

Facebook announced through its founder and CEO, that the parent company will be rebranding its name from Facebook to Meta. However, the rebranding won’t affect the services and apps offered by Facebook as they will all remain the same after the name change. According to Mark, Facebook’s goal was and still is all about connecting and bringing people together.

 
 

“In this future, you will be able to teleport instantly as a hologram to be at the office without a commute, at a concert with friends, or in your parents’ living room to catch up”  “This will open up more opportunities no matter where you live. You’ll be able to spend more time on what matters to you, cut downtime in traffic, and reduce your carbon footprint.”
