What started as a peaceful morning around the Maryland area of Lagos state, quickly turned into a scary movie when an electric high tension caught fire this morning.
In a clip shared online, it showed the moment road users along the busy Ikorodu road fled for their lives. Some even abandoned their cars as they ran to safety, after an electric cable sparked at Maryland bus stop.
A video shared online showed as fire erupted from the electric poles while the spark persisted. However, Senior Special Assistant to Lagos state governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, said the situation had been brought under control.
He also added that the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company have taken charge of the situation, and that traffic flow which was disrupted during the scary incident has been restored to normal
