Saudi Arabia Declares National Holiday and Celebrations After 1-2 Victory Against Argentina

The government of Saudi Arabia has declared a 1 National holiday and celebration, after their men’s national football team Al-Saqour (Meaning Falcons), beat Argentina 1-2, in their opening group stage match at the ongoing world cup in Qatar.




Dailymail reported that all public and private employees, including students in Saudi Arabia will have the day off on Wednesday, November 2023, 2022, after their national team came from 1nil down to defeat Argentina 1-2 in one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history.


During the match, Saudi Arabia, the second-lowest ranked team in the tournament after Ghana, were down 1-0 by the 10th minute after Messi scored a penalty.




The La Albiceleste’s 1-0 lead against the underdogs would’ve been extended, had the match official not deny Messi’s side, a goal by Lautaro Martinez, just 9minutes after the 7-time ballon d’or winner converted a penalty to a goal


But Saudi Arabia threw caution to the wind at the start of the second half, charging at Argentina’s defense in front of a frenzied 88,012 crowd.

Saleh Al-Shehri squeezed in a low shot in the 48th minute while Al-Dawsari curled in a scorching strike from the edge of the penalty area in the 53rd minute to leave Argentina and Messi looking utterly shell-shocked in the Group C opener.
