Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, a 2019 Imo state governorship candidate under AA political party, has been released from the custody of Nigerian police after 24hrs.

Ugwumba Uche Nwosu who is also a son-in-law to Rochas Okorocha, was arrested on Sunday, 26th December 2021, during a Church Service at his hometown, Eziama Obaire in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
It was earlier reported that he was kidnapped by unknown gun men, but Michael Abbattam, the Spokesman of the Imo Police command, in a statement, debunked the news of abduction, stating that Mr Nwosu was arrested and not abducted.
However, Mr Nwosu regained his freedom today, 27th December, 2021. His release was confirmed by his media aide, Chikezie Nwadike, Nwosu, who revealed that Ugwumba Uche Nwosu spent the night in Police custody.

He mentioned that the police never invited him before the invasion of the church where he was arrested on Sunday Morning.
The statement challenged the police or anybody who held the opinion to produce a documented proof wherein Nwosu was invited by the police.
Nwosu said that he was “fine” and thanked Nigerians who stood up for him when his safety was unknown
