Police Dismisses Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri After he Was Caught Checking Civilian’ s Phone

The Nigerian Police force has dismissed Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri, due to indiscipline conduct, disobedience to lawful order, and assault on a member of the public, after he was caught on camera checking a civilian’s phone earlier on Sunday August 2022.

In a video of him which went viral, Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri who joined the NPF in 2016, (Force No. 509745) was caught on camera checking a civilian’s mobile phone by the roadside, an act that is directly contrary to the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba. The video also showed the moment Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri equally assaulted the commuter who attempted to bring the order to his notice.

 

 

To that effect, Corporal Opeyemi Kadiri who was attached to Dolphin Divisional Headquarters, Lagos Police, was dismissed by the command for gross misconduct, disobedience to lawful order, and assault on a member of the public. A statement released by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, added that his dismissal takes effect from today the 12th of August, 2022.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi also called on officers and men of the Force to maintain professionalism and civility to members of the public in the discharge of their duties in line with extant laws. The Force equally called on members of the public to ensure proper conduct in all encounters with police officers to avoid infractions that may be subject to prosecution.
