Police Arrest 2 Women, Chinyere Nwozu and Ngozi Akaeme for Child Trafficking in Ogun State

Operatives of the Ogun state Police command have arrested Chinyere Nwozu and Ngozi Akaeme for buying and selling of a 1-week old baby. The police first arrested Chinyere Nwozu (53) on Saturday morning, July 30, 2022, when she was seen in public with a baby who was crying but she couldn’t breastfeed the baby.




This roused suspicions of some members of the public who didn’t fail to follow their instincts promptly and quickly alerted the police at Sango Ota divisional headquarters. Upon the information, SP Dahiru Saleh who is the DPO Sango Ota, sent his detectives to the scene where the woman was promptly arrested.



During her interrogation, Chinyere Nwozu confessed to the police that she is not the biological mother of the child, that she bought the child somewhere in the Agege area of Lagos state through one Ngozi Akaeme at the rate of ₦500,000 naira.




With the details of and description of Ngozi Akaeme which she gave, some police detectives were sent after the said Ngozi Akaeme, tailed her and got her arrested. She confessed been an accomplice to Chinyere Nwozu, and that she actually negotiated with the biological mother of the baby who according to her agreed to sell the baby. 



LatestNGnews.com gathered that Chinyere Nwozu and Ngozi Akaeme complied with the police to locate the biological mother of the child, but DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi comfimed that his men weren’t successful.


Meanwhile, the commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and possible prosecution.
