There has been a petrol tanker explosion in Ajegunle toll gate/Bus-Stop, around Alagbado, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

What started as a blissful night and cool early morning, quickly turned the tears and panic after a petrol tanker laden with premium spirit exploded in the area around 3am on Friday morning.

Residents say the explosion which threw fire to people’s houses and business shops, woke them from their sleep, and they all ran for their lives as they thank their stars that the explosion didn’t roast them while they were asleep.

Emergency officials, including firefighters from the Lagos State Fire Service, arrived at the scene to put out the fire. At least one person died in the accident. A video from the scene shows a black bag containing the body of the deceased.
