Pastor Arrested for Kidnapping a Catholic priest in Imo State

Police has arrested one 35-year-old pastor Izuchukwu Anoloba of the Apostolic Church of Christ in connection with the kidnapping a 71-year-old Roman Catholic priest whose name was given as Fr. Fidelis Ekemgba, and demanding ₦5m ransom for his release

Pastor Izuchukwu who was arrested in Lagos is the prime suspect of the kidnapping case and also, the leader of a robbery and kidnapping syndicated was paraded Rabiu Hussaini, the Imo State Commissioner of Police.

 
 
 
 

His partners in crime who’s names were given as Kingsley Obumunonye, 35; Uchenna Duru, 25; Chidinka Oduenyi, 20; Onyebuchi Emeka, 26; Augustine Azubuike, 47; Divine Ugochukwu, 39 and Chukwuma Onwe, 47, were also paraded.

 
 
 
 

The commissioner also revealed that the syndicate had been on the wanted list for a while, as they were responsible for multiple robbery and kidnapping cases, and has managed to evade possible capture and arrest in several states.

Upon arrest, the pastor admitted he had received N1.5m random paid for the priest.

 
 
 

“I am a pastor with the Apostolic Church of Christ in Lagos. I got ₦1.5 million from the kidnap of the priest,” Anoloba spoke to the journalists. “I never knew I will be arrested. I regret my actions because I am now a disgrace to the body of Christ and my family.”

 
 
 
 

The CP’s team found the priest after following information collected by the anti-kidnapping unit. He then applauded the job well done, and he pledged to continue keeping the state secure from criminals.
