Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has taken a new wife. This is coming months after it was speculated that he would do so. Video of the wedding ceremony was shared online by Moses Olafare, Ooni’s Director of Media and Publicity.

The lady identified as Olori Mariam Anako is from Ebira, Kogi state. Their marriage plans started in March this year, however, they had their traditional wedding in the palace on Monday, September 6. Mariam is said to be a top executive in an Oil and Gas company.

The monarch at the time sent a high powered delegation to her family to request for Mariam Anako’s hand in marriage. The wedding ceremony took place 10 months after Naomi Silekunola, the last wife of the monarch left him.

Prior to his coronation, the Ooni was previously married to Adebukola Bombata in 2008 but the marriage failed. After being coronated, Ooni married Edo-born Zaynab-Otiti Obanor in 2016 but the union lasted for 17 months before their separation.
