Several Nollywood actors and actresses have voiced their disappointment over the low payment they get for the roles in the movie industry, despite strenuous roles and difficult plays.
LatestNGnews.com sighted by Adunni Ade, during an interview, was the first to raise this as a concern in recent times, and now, she has been joined by her Nollywood colleague and actor, Gideon Okeke, and veteran actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, to share their own voices on the issue.
Besides the low pay which Gideon Okeke, on his IG page referred to as “peanut”, there was a complain about the food, which he also referred to as whack, and working conditions which he said are “slave-like”.
Gideon told Nigerians not to envy actors who doll up on the red carpet at movie awards because it’s all packaging, and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde responded, agreeing with him.
Awards season is coming again. You will see all of us looking like PEACOCKS on the red carpet. Like a BAG OF MONEY. Don’t ENVY ANYONE o. Na Packaging. Na wash.
Now dem don even Dey give money for BEST DRESSED. Taking the light away from the film wey dem come to appraise. You IGN’ANT (Ignorant) like the Americans would say. We’z be IGN’ANT.

Gideon’s post in IG was in response to an interview actress Adunni Ade granted, where she called for a better pay for Nollywood actors and actresses.
