An ex governor of Anambra state and a former Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi has described Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho as more popular than all politicians put together in their respective regions.
Namdi Kanu is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Sunday Igboho is an activist and an agitator of the Oduduwa republic and both are embattled secessionist leaders in holding cells, after agitating for Nigeria’s break-up.
Nnadi Kanu is being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria while Sunday Igboho is being detained in Benin Republic after his arrest in the West African country as he was trying to flee to Germany.
According to the former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi who was recently invited by the EFFC in case of alleged Pandora Box publication, Igboho and Kanu were made popular by their messages because of they gave hope to the Nigerian populace in their various regions. Mr Peter Obi said this at an event titled, “National Security Challenge: Youths neglect?” held in Abuja, in his words,
“In the South-West, Sunday Igboho is far more popular than all the politicians put together. “In the South-East, Nnamdi Kanu is far more popular than all the politicians put together. Obi noted that the agitation for the breakup of Nigeria was fuelled by lack of hope, saying “what drives people to live in a country is hope”.
As at the time of this publication, there are unconfirmed rmours that Sunday Igboho had been poisoned in his Bennin republic cell while Nnamdi Kanu is set for return to court on 21st October 2021, on charges of treason filed against him by the federal government.
