The Nigerian Falconets U-20 team has defeated the France U-20 women’s team in a group opening match of the FIFA U-20 worldcup tournament. The match which ended 1nil was played at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.

 

The Falconets who controlled higher percentage of the possession, secured their first group stage win after they snatched a late goal, 40 minutes into the second half with a goal Flourish Chioma Sabastine.

 

 

France fought well a few minutes later and netted the ball but was overruled by the VAR

 

 

The match which was suspended for 20 minutes following torrential rain, saw an only goal by Falconets’ Flourish Sabastine

 

The Falconets will on Sunday, take on South Korea Republic  who are top of the table at the Estadio Alajuela Morera Soto, before facing Korea Republic in the 16-nation tournament.
