Manchester United travelled to Spain last night and beat Villarreal CF 2 – 0 at the Estadio de la Ceramica. This is a big win or United following the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who’s had a rather poor performance this season, and also knew he was gonna get sacked after a devastating loss at Watford.
United after Ole was sacked, appointed former mid-fielder, Michael Carrick as the interim coach while the Glazer Family who reports clamed that have speed up their efforts to find a replacement for Ole Gunna, contracts a new head coach for the Red Devils.
United’s win came after 77 minutes of the game in which ManU’s Jadon Sancho and Villarreal’s Manu Trigueros failed to convert their chances to goals. At the 78th minutes.
At the 78th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo put his side in front when lofted in the ball while inside the box in an experienced, fashioned manner, making it his 799th senior career goal and his 6th goal in 5 UEFA Champion league matches.
United’s qualification into the round of 16 was sealed when Jadon Sancho who failed to score under former manager Solskjaer, redeemed himself for earlier missed chances, converted a counter attack into a wining goal for United, when blasted a shot that went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Speaking after the game, United’s temporary coach, Michael Carrick, while answering to newsmen said;
“It’s not been an easy couple of days for anyone at the club and that result almost feels like it’s for Ole,” “We had a job to do and things needed to be taken care of. I was happy to do it and thankfully it all went to plan.
“When you’ve suffered results-wise and aren’t in good form, individually and as a team, it’s not easy to come out and let everything click – we had to show some character and fight.”
United’s win at the Estadio de la Ceramica wouldn’t be complete without mentioning goalkeeper David de Gea who produced two superb one-handed saves, in both the first and second half, to keep out well-struck efforts from Manu Trigueros when it was goalless.
