It was truly a dream come true for the 17-year-old Jemimah Marcus who served as the governor of Lagos state for 24hrs after she won the 2020 edition of the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition.

Jemimah Marcus who is a student of Angus Memorial Secondary School in Somolu, as the 1-day executive governor of Lagos state, presided over the State Executive Council meeting on Monday, December 20,2021.
The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced this via his Facebook page, where he shared photos of the meeting. Speaking about the council meeting, Sanwo-Olu said,

“I am delighted to say that the competition has been achieving its desired vision and objectives. The organisers will follow up on Jemimah’s endeavour to ensure she acquires the right leadership skills and becomes a responsible citizen of Nigeria.
“I accepted the request of our one-day Governor that government should make more investment in education and human capital development. As a government we are already doing that and we will continue to do more.”
