Gov. Wike Approved ₦1 Billion to Emergency Support Fund for Rivers State Flood Victims

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has released ₦1 billion for emergency relief measures to support flood victims in the state. The money is to be used for victims of flooding especially in Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Areas of the State.




The governor, who empathised with the flood victims, has also set up a task force to coordinate the distribution of relief materials to affected communities in the State.


This was disclosed in a statement issued by Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday. Wike said the N1 billion approved by the State Government was to enable vulnerable families, particularly in Ahoada West and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGAs to cope with the devastating flood.



The governor said the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau in the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. George Nwaeke, will serve as the chairman of the Taskforce, while, Mrs. Inime I. Aguma, is the Secretary.


The statement said all members of the taskforce are to meet with Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Thursday.
