In a video shared online, the former Nigerian President who celebrated his 85th birthday, with a ceremonial football match, is seen applying pressure on his grandson’s back to guide him to the ground.
All the while, he had his hands on the boy’s legs as he showed him how to prostrate to greet his elders.

It is a common traditional practice in the Yoruba to bow down or lay down flat on the floor while greeting an elder or someone who is in a higher rank especially in the traditional setting.
This is still practiced today in most Yoruba cultures till this 21st century, as it is believed to be a way to show respect
