Fire Destroys Goods and Market Structure in Okpono-Egbu Market on New Year Day (Video)

There has been a fire outbreak at the prestigious Okpuno-egbu daily market in Umudim Nnewi, Anambra state on the evening of January 1, 2022.

It was reported that the fires which the source is yet unknown, started after the daily market closed for the day. Several shops were burnt to the ground, together with the goods packed in them. 

 
 
 

It was also gathered that fire service arrived the scene and was able to save some shops by reducing the furnace, but not not after several shops were burnt.

It was also gathered that some of the shops were owned by people who have all closed their businesses and gone home for Christmas.

 


 

Some of the eyewitnesses who spoke to a LatestNGnews.com correspondence via a phone call, revealed that fire outbreak is becoming a regular incident that happens in Nnewi every year.
