FIFA Worldcup 2026: Super Eagles to Play 10 Qualifying Matches (5 home and 5 Away)

The Nigerian Super Eagles are expected to play to FIFA Worldcup qualifying matches, which will include 5 home fixtures and 5 away fixtures, if they’re to participate in the FIFA Worldcup competition that is scheduled to be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America in 2026. and will be played across 16 cities in these 3 countries.

This would be another golden opportunity for the Eagles to show their class on a global stage, after they failed to qualify for the last world cup tournament after they were eliminated by the black stars of Ghana in 2022.

The continent of Africa will be represented by nine teams at the after the total number of participating teams was increased to 48 teams. Also, there will be another chance for a team from the continent to qualify through the intercontinental playoff.

 

 

The CAF executive committee met in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria, on Thursday to decide on the format and timing of the qualifiers. Top journalist, Osasu Obayiuwana, who was in Algiers to cover the CAF executive meeting, reported that there will now be nine groups of six teams each, with the overall group winners advancing automatically to the next World Cup.
