Ex-Commonwealth Secretary-General, Emeka Anyaoku, Celebrate 89th Birthday

Emeka Anyaoku, a former commonwealth Secretary-General, is celebrating this 89th birthday today, 17th January 2022. January 1933, he was the third Commonwealth Secretary-General, born in Obosi, Anyaoku was educated at Merchants of Light School, Oba, and attended the University College of Ibadan.




Fecilating on his birthday, president Buhari appreciated the international diplomat who started as a Foreign Service Officer, saying that Anyaoku had “consistently”


followed and projected the wellbeing of his country by working “assiduously” to build his local community and staying vocal in counselling leaders on way forward.



The President also extolled his foresight, courage and diligence in pursuing his vision for a more just and peaceful world.
President Buhari prayed that the Almighty God will continue to strengthen the renowned international diplomat and his family.


These were contained in statement issued by the presidency on the presidential  spokesman, Femi Adesina.


The statment disclosed that president Buhari joined family and friends to celebrate with the diplomat, whose contributions to Nigeria and the international comity he said will continue to stand out.
