
2 Nigerian athletes, Eucharia Iyiazi and Ugochi Alam, has won Gold and Bronze Medals for team Nigeria at the on-going common wealth games in Birmigham. The duo did Nigeria proud when they won the F55-57 Shot Put in women’s final on Saturday.

The bronze and gold medals by the duo moved Team Nigeria up to seventh place in the medal standings with eight gold, three silver and seven bronze.
Iyiazi threw a new Commonwealth Games record of 10.03m to win the gold medal for Nigeria. Also, Alam grabbed bronze with a throw of 9.30m to make it first and third for the country.
The silver medal (second place) in the F55-57 Shot Put, went to Cameroon’s Arlette Fokoa. Meanwhile, Esther Isa and Temitope Adeshina competed in the women’s High Jump final, finishing ninth and 10th respectively.

Both athletes jumped an identical height of 1.81m, which was not good enough for a podium finish.
