David de Gea Makes History, Wins Premier League Player of the Month Award for January

Manchester United goalkeeper, David de Gea has being named and win the English Premier League Player award of the Month of January. he also made history to become to first goalkeeper to win the award in the last 6 years.

The 31-year-old Spanish stopper made 22 saves across four games for his English club, Manchester United in January, helping them move up into the top four of the Premier League.

 

The EPL player of the month award was last won by a goalkeeper in February 2016, by Fraser Forste of Southampton, and and the award hasn’t being claimed by any goalkeeper since then.

This is also a first time for the Spaniard, De Gea has been awarded the English Premier League’s Player of the Month in his 11-year career at Old trafford.

 

De Gea topped a six-man January shortlist; Jarrod Bowen, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Harrison, Joao Moutinho, and James Ward-Prowse to win the award.
