Christian Churches in Zamfara Receives Threat Letter of an Attack, Police Confirms

Christian Churches in Zamfara state have received a threat letter of an imminent attack on several churches in the state, which are located in Gusau, the state capital.

 
 
 
 

The letter which is suspected to be sent by bandits, who threatened these churches that they’ll face an attack if they fail to shutdown entirely.

 
 
 

After preliminary investigations, Police command in Zamfara state  have confirmed threats posed by the said letter which is suspected to be sent by bandits to these Churches in in the sate are real.

 
 

This was confirmed by he Zamfara State Police Commissioner  in an interactive session with newsmen in Gusau on Tuesday. In his words;

 

The bandits had written to the Christian community in Zamfara informing them of their intention to attack churches in the State.

 
While making attempts to source out the origin and author of the letter, the police have assured the Christian community in the state that the command is ready to provide give them with adequate security.
 
The Commissioner of Police in his words, explained;
 
 

“We are yet to ascertain where the letter came from, but considering the current situation in the country, we will not just sit down and overlook the content of the letter.”

 
 

He added that the police were going to deploy adequate security to all Churches and Mosques during prayer sessions and services.

 
 
He further explained that he had directed for adequate security personnel to be deployed to Churches and Mosques from next Friday to ensure the security of all in the State.
