Chief Mbazulike Amaechi urges Agitating Groups to drop Arms and Give Peace a chance

An elder statesman from the south-East Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, has urged several agitating groups in the country to drop arms and give peace a chance in the country again.

The last surviving minister from the first republic made this call while expressing his sadness towards the rate at which human lives are being wasted in the country especially in these recent times.

 
 
 

He also condemned the the brutal killings of policemen and civilians in Ebonyi State as well as south-east states and other states in the country. other parts of Nigeria, and also called for an end to such carnages.

Amaechi, 92, made the appeal on Wednesday in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen after a closed-door meeting with Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, where he said;

 
 
 
 

“I plead with all agitating groups both known and unknown to give peace a chance for full restoration of security to the zone and the entire country.

 
 
 

“I am the only surviving minister of the first republic and plead that my age should be respected. “I should be assisted to make peace in the zone and country before I join my maker.

 
 
 
 

“Youths are presently witnessing a period when the naira has no value, passengers disembark from their vehicles to cross security check points among other issues.
