Ceiling of Abia Court Collapses While Court was in Session

The ceiling of a High Court Four in Aba has collapsed just 20 minutes after the court went into session on Tuesday was presided by justice Clinton Okoroafor.
 
 
 
 
Eyewitness who spoke to LatestNGnews.com revealed that ceiling sheets of the courtroom suddenly fell but luckily, people who were in court at the time which includes lawyers, litigants and staffs of the court were unharmed as they quickly took to safety.
 
 
 
The cause of the sudden collapse was said to be caused by the dilapidation an old age of the structure. However, Some lawyers who witnessed the incident said that the building was renovated three years ago, “but was not done properly”.
 
 
 
 
 
Efforts to get a reaction from the State Chief Judge did not succeed but a source at the Ministry of Justice said the CJ had been duly notified and “he thanked God that no life was lost”.

According to the source, the State Government has equally been notified for necessary actions after several reports that the building has been leaking since after the renovation, thus exposing the structure to draining water.
