Several Nigerians in home and abroad are either going to bed this night or waking up in the morning with the trending hashtag “#BuhariEscapesDeath”, which started trending after after a news broke that rtd. gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria in a little airplane mishap.

The news read;

President Muhammadu Buhari and the delegation that recently traveled with him to the US escaped an air mishap after the presidential jet marked 5N-FGT suddenly developed a fault while they were returning to Nigeria,

thus, the trending #BuhariEscapesDeath hashtag.

Nigerians however, took to their various social media handles to express their mixed feelings towards the news of their president coming out unscathed and evading death by plane crash.

The rather funny but impressive thing about Nigerians is that they’re one of the talented, resilient and hardworking set of individuals on the African continent and face the earth as well. They have this tradition of using comedy and memes to make a really hurtful situation situation to become less hurtful and painful.

And the rule is that no one from outside Nigeria is allowed to make funny jokes or meme with Nigerians or the situation of Nigeria, no matter how good or bad it gets, doing such equals to a meme treason.
