Bandits Invades Pinau community Market in Plateau State, Kills 7 and Collects Millions of Naira as Ransom

Unidentified gunmen have on Sunday evening, invaded Pinau community Market in Pinau community of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. 7 people have been reportedly lost their lives during the attack and leaving many villagers.



The attack on the community market while the locals were going about thier usual business on Sunday evening, was confirmed to by Shapi’i Sambo, who is the Wase community youth leader.


He described the incident as unfortunate, other residents who spoke to our correspondent in anonymity alleged that informants were living among them.



Mr Sambo, the youth leader started by saying in local dialect, that the gunmen stormed the market and started shooting sporadically. He also revealed that for the past weeks, there’s been several cases of gunmen attack across the area and they now demand higher amount of money as ransom.


Another source who had a little bit of English in him told correspondent that bandits have in the last 10 days, abducted many people in the area and collected millions of naira as ransom. In his words;


“They collect ransom in millions. Sometime they collect ₦2 million and sometime ₦5 millions. Last three days, they collected ₦5million before releasing a man whom they abducted some days back.”


Spokesman of the state police command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, did not respond to calls and SMS when our correspondent tried to reach him over the development.
