Atiku Abubakar, a former vice-president of Nigeria and a 2023 presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has picked Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.
He made the choice this morning June 16 after the National Working Committee of the party presented three shortlisted nominees to him.
Those presented to him were Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state. After a critical consideration, Atiku picked Okowa as his choice for a running mate. Speaking at the unveiling, Atiku said one of the factors he considered was that his running mate must have ‘presidential qualities.’
Former presidential aide, Pastor Reno Omokri, in an earlier tweet he made, were he teased his followers to guess whom the PDP’s running mate would be, described Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as a man both the North and South will love.
He tweeted saying;
