The Confederation of African Football (CAF), who’re the organizers of the African Cup of Nations, have named Nigerian Super Eagle’s interim coach Augustine Eguavoen, as the AFCON 2021 Group Stage Best Manager.

This is coming after the 56-year-old coach led the Super Eagles to 3 straight wins, toping the table in their Group D with 9 points, accumulated from wins against Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea Bissau, making the Super Eagles the only team to win all three group stage match in the ongoing tournament.
Also, The Augustine Eguavoen-led Nigerian team have been showing an outstanding performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. as a player he won the 1994 edition, equaled his own record set in 2006 as a coach.

The announcement as the best group state coach was made by CAF on its website, saying that its Technical Study Group shortlisted the Best of the Group Stage, and Eguavoen was awarded for winning the three matches at the group stage.

In a statement on his handle, Eguavoen said, “Many thanks to the Confederation of African Football for this award.
“The Best coach of the Group stage. Wouldn’t have been possible without my fantastic group of players and colleagues. “Thank you Nigerians, for your support. It’s needed now, more than ever.”
