In his lousy defense after being arrested on Monday, for confirmed drug related charges, argued that IPOB and its armed wing ESN were after him due to the onslaught he launched against them in the South East. – This was contained in a report submitted by the panel to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, which was in turn forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
“It is a campaign to smear his reputation by members of IPOB/ESN who vowed to destroy him, due to onslaught against them in the South East,” the ‘super cop’ was quoted to have said in the report.
However, the panel, faulted his claim, saying his claim is ‘watery’ and demoted him from the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police to Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Besides his arrest by the NDLEA over drug trafficking and bribery of an officer of NDLEA, Abba Kyari also has an impending extradition request to the US over fraud connections with serial fraudster, Hushpuppi.
