Abba Kyari and Colleagues Pleads “Not Guilty” to Drug Trafficking Charges in Court

Suspended and demoted Deputy Commisioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has pleaded “Not Guilty” to the 8 count charges bordering drug trafficking which was filed against him and his colleagues.

Kyari and six of his work colleagues; Sunday J Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba, and John Nuhu, together with Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne all pleaded “Not Guilty” before a judge at a Federal high court in Abuja today.

 

 

After the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022 was read to them by the NDLEA director of prosecution and legal services, Joseph Sunday, Kyari and four defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges, but, the sixth and seventh defendants entered a “guilty” plea and begged the court for mercy.

Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, are the 6th and 7th defendants respectively, pleaded guilty to counts five, six and seven preferred against them.

 

Although their names were also mentioned in counts three and four where allegations bordering on conspiracy were leveled against Kyari and others, they were not ask to take a plea on these two counts.
